Best Baby Products 2020

Alright my loves, I’ve done it – and dont let these photos fool you. I’ve found myself an hour of uninterrupted time to myself so I can finally share my must-have baby product list with you mama’s and papa’s to be out there! Before baby Lucy, I was one of those, up-with-the-sun kind of people. But with her feeding around 5 AM, I haven’t been able to help myself and fall back asleep with her until 8 or 9 each morning.

Mornings used to be my time for myself and today is the first day since she was born that I stayed up after the 5 AM feeding, put her back down, put my workout clothes on, rolled out my yoga mat and set myself up outside in my garden for a full hour flow. I kept thinking about how nice it felt to have my morning to myself. While getting up at 5 AM and staying up can be an internal battle, I feel so much better throughout my day when I do carve out this time to move my body. Hey, it even inspired me to sit down to throw this post together while she sleeps for another 45 minutes!

I honestly have a hard time understanding how quickly time is passing. When I was two months away from giving birth, it felt like I had a lifetime. Now we’re two months after birth, and I literally feel like I’ve blinked! I’ve promised you this product post for a few weeks now, and it comes at the perfect time because I feel like I’ve gotten into a routine in the past two months with which products are working really well for us. I feel like the first month, you’re just going through the motions so this time has allowed me to focus on and recommend exactly what we’ve been loving.

There are SO many lists out there for new moms, I honestly feel like a lot of them are overkill. Personally, I tend to overbuy because I don’t know what I will need, and I would rather be prepared than underprepared – a habit I’ve quickly learned to drop and encourage you to as well. There’s always Amazon Prime if you need something in a pinch! That being said, I really wanted to use this opportunity to share our most used baby products with you. And as I went through naming each one, I came up with these 21 items.

I recently stumbled onto the Silver Cross Wave stroller after after thinking the UPPABaby Vista was the stroller for us, as first time parents. Now I am torn because I love the look of the Silver Cross and wanted to know how you’ve liked it thus far? Some reviews said it is too heavy, is this true? Thanks!!

Hi, what changing pad do you use? Thanks!

Our daughter was born at the end of Feb. just about 2 weeks before SIP here in the Bay Area. We have the Dekor diaper pale and it’s pretty nice. I like that you don’t have to open anything, there’s a foot pedal and a push spring loaded door to keep the smells in. The bags are just a single long tube that you keep cutting and tying off so if you wanted to take out a particularly smelly bin, you can just pull it out, cut, and tie it off without wasting a whole bag.

I hope you keep finding time for yourself!

Love,
Nikki

Wondering how you chose this monitor. I’m due in 3 weeks and trying to decide! Thanks!

I was using a wifi one that I didnt like because it kept dropping singal. I would spend more time re-syncing the Miku than not. I ended up opting for this one because it has the largest reach of a non wifi monitor.

Apologies for typos! Writing while breastfeeding lol. I meant the video feed can be viewed via the app on your phone. 🙂

Erika, I remember Jenny mentioning on IG that her original baby monitor (I believe it was the Miku?) dropped WiFi signal a lot which caused more anxiety than peace of mind. The GoodBaby baby monitor is capable of functioning without WiFi. For what it’s worth, we just had our baby mid-May and settled in using Nest cameras because they’re easy, the data isn’t stored, there’s no maintenance fee, we can view baby directly on our phones via the all (one less thing to carry around!), and we can repurpose them later throughout the house.

Yes, that’s right. Definitely easier!

Would love to hear your thoughts on the Snoo and why you haven’t used it! I’m expecting my first baby in November!

Oh my gosh I LOVE our SNOO! Lucy took to it immediately. From the first time we put her in it the day we got home from the hospital, it’s been a Godsend. The rocking and swaddle combination works really well for her. There’s a really great Mommy SNOO group on Facebook where youcan ask questions and get great feedback on tips and tricks for the SNOO which really helped me. I love it so much we take it with us down to our shore house when we go – I fear not having it with us and I fear when I will have to wein her off of it!

Hi, I am considering the Elvie and curious how often you use it daily and if you have any tips? I pump several times a day with a Spectra and nurse the others. Thinking the portability of Elvie would be fantastic but nervous about reviews. Thanks!

Hi Katie! The Elvie is great and I use it when I am on the go or doing things around the house. I received the spectra as a shower gift so I’ve tried both and the Spectra is a faster pump. But when you’re sitting in one spot, it needs to be quicker. I almost prefer the Elvie because of that reason, it allows me to pump discretely while doing things instead of sitting in one spot and waiting to pump. It’s really just personal preference!

Great list! I’m leaning towards the Doona stroller but can you please tell me what the added value is of having both the Doona and the Silver Cross stroller is?

Hi! Yes the Doona is great for travel, the way it converts can’t be beat. That being said, it’s not the most “comfortable” stroller for baby to be in to go for a casual walk in. It doesn’t have great shocks or soft wheels so the baby feels the bumps. The Silver Cross feels more like a proper strolled and definitely more comfortable. Baby will also outgrow the DOONA in about 6 months, the Silver Cross is also convertible in that it has a bassinet for when baby is little and then converts into a stroller seat for baby to grow into for years to come.

Hi! How did you decide on Silver Cross versus other comparable strollers like Uppababy vista and Nuna? We are also in NYC and starting our stroller research. Thanks!

I am a new mother myself, delivering a baby girl just a few days prior to you, and I fully agree with all of these items! We chose the Bugaboo Lynx stroller and car seat system, but otherwise It’s an excellent list. It has been a comfort and joy to watch your pregnancy and motherhood journey unfold along with mine during these trying times. Thank you!

Congratulations! Love hearing this about the Lynx stroller! I was considering that one as well!

That is a great list. I noticed you didn’t have a diaper pail on your list. Do you find that you don’t need one? I am unsure whether or not I should buy one for the baby room. Would love to get your opinion.

I have the ubbi one and I love it. It contains the smell really well and you don’t need a special bag for it. Just any trash bag will do. Plus it comes in a bunch of cute colors. It’s a slight investment upfront but makes up for it in the long run since you don’t need to buy custom bags.

I may order this now! I really dont like the Diaper Genie!

Hi got the Diaper Genie but really dont love it. It doesn’t hold more than 2 days of diapers and I have to reach my hand down into it because the diapers get caught. I ended up using a regular trash can!
