3 Things I Love About Being a Woman

With International Women’s Day a short week away, I wanted to embark on celebrating such a beautiful moment. When my dear friends at Pedro asked me to be a part of a campaign to bring awareness to the day, I jumped at the opportunity. After all, there isn’t a moment that goes by that I’m not in awe of the women around me (or those that I admire from afar). And simply put, I love being a woman.

I’m a girl’s girl through and through and have always thought of myself as incredibly feminine. But why do I love being a woman? I took some time to think about three of my favorite reasons and wanted to share them with you today, in hopes that you can do the same as we celebrate such an important day for the female sex.

We are strong

This thought always comes to mind as I sit in my yoga class, surrounded by mainly women who are showing off their physical strength. I’m also reminded of this when I talk with friends and family who are carrying human life – all while running businesses, families, and going on with their days without a lot of complaints. I’m reminded of this through films and history of what women have had to overcome to be considered equal. I’m reminded of this when I meet women who have broken stereotypes to become a CEO of a company or something as incredible business wise. Both physically and mentally, women have incredible strength, and this is obvious wherever I look.

The support is real

This is something that I feel has come a long way over the past few years. With the “women supporting women” movement, I’ve felt such a beautiful shift in our culture. Listen, I’m in a competitive field dealing with women – there are times of comparison and competition, but lately, I’ve felt that as a source of inspiration. Instead of working against each other to get the next campaign or front row seat at fashion week – I’m taking the opportunity to truly be happy when I see a woman I admire getting those opportunities. One step for any woman is a step for me.

Fashion + pampering

I’ve never been one of those girls who was jealous of men getting ready in 15 minutes flat. Want to know why? I honestly adore the act of getting ready, playing with makeup, applying a skincare routine, and most of all, putting together a look. While, of course, men can do the same and many have the same love for fashion, there’s something about being a woman and women’s fashion that feels special. From shopping with my grandmother as a young girl, talking all things skin with my mom, gushing over trends with girlfriends over champagne and a manicure, walking the streets and feeling glamorous in Pedro pumps, I have a special place in my heart for fashion and beauty of being a female.

Now, I could go on forever, but I’ll stop there. Those are three things that constantly swirl in my head and stand out to me most.

But I’d love to know, what do YOU love about being a woman?

Thanks to Pedro for sponsoring this post.

I love your thoughts about the privilege of being a woman — from our strength and femininity, to lifting one another up in support. I’ve really grown to admire you for your iconic style (you inspire me every day), but in reading more of your thoughts and interviews where you’ve opened up, really appreciating your perspective on issues big and small.✨

As I get older, I become more aware and more passionate about womanhood and all the things we should embrace about it. Thanks for sharing this great piece Jenny!

Love those post!! I too am in awe of all that we as women have been able to accomplish throughout history and continue to break through, thank you for sharing this post!

Such a lovely post, darling! You look gorgeous with that feminine dress. What I love about being a woman is that there are so many styles that I can play with and that I can be as delicate as I want.

A very lovely post. The respect I have for women begins with my Mother, and gradually throughout every woman I meet in the path of life. Women are strong and resilient and that is power!
