Beauty Edit

SKINCARE:
my daily routine

LOCATION:  Beverly Hills

Let’s be honest, in a world of immediate gratification, we still remain result driven humans. There’s not one “miracle cream” that’s going to cure all of your skincare concerns. If there’s anything I’ve learned about skincare over the years, it’s that flawless skin is the result of an extreme routine. Morning, noon and night! So to kick things off here on The Beauty Edit, I’m starting with skin. Here are a few products I use to get my day started and a few more that I won’t end without.

Get The Look:

 1

Epionce

FACE CLEANSER

Epionce’s Lytic Gel Cleanser removes oil in the mornings and dirt and dead skin from pores at night without disturbing your skin’s natural moisture barrier. It’s a product that my dermatologist has recommended for years. It never dries my skin out and definitely combats those bad breakout days.

 2

La Mer

EYE CONCENTRATE

While some beauty products come and go, there are a few to invest in. Eye cream being one of them. La Mer’s Eye Concentrate is the industries most coveted cream for a reason. It’s deeply conditioning and not only diminishes the look of fine lines and wrinkles, but also surface discoloration like dark circles. I use in the morning and a little extra at night. I wish I could bathe in this magical potion.

Revision Skincare

INTELLISHADE MATTE

Unless you’ve been living under a rock, you know that sunscreen is a daily must if you’re at all interested in maintaining the appearance of your skin. It’s such a dreaded topic, no one wants to admit to not using but the truth is that a lot of us don’t! I think there’s just one reason why; you haven’t found the right one yet. While most sun protection leaves you feeling oily and smelly, Intellishade will change your thoughts on sunscreen entirely. It’s light on your skin and is tinted for extra coverage. I don’t leave the house without it and use it for touchups throughout the day.

iS Clinical

Pro-Health Serum

Another gem I’ve discovered and use bi-daily from my dermatologist. This Vitamin C and antioxidant rich formula is you’re defense system against acne, rosacea and sunspots. Just a few drops in the morning and night. After a month of using, I have noticed the biggest difference mostly in the sun spots on my face.

 5

Lancôme

Eye Makeup Remover

I was originally turned onto this eye-makeup remover after Allure magazine gave it ‘Best of Beauty’ Award. It’s ideal for sensitive skin like mine mostly because it doesn’t leave your skin with that oily residue after use. Traditional makeup removing wipes leave my skin feeling stripped of its softness so I opt for a cotton ball soaked in this special formula. Remember, gentle downward strokes to your closed eyes to sweep away even the heaviest eye makeup.

Peter Thomas Roth

BUBBLING BRIGHTENING MASK

I remember sitting at lunch one day with two of my girlfriends and watched as both of them screamed in excitement at each other over how incredible this mask was. “It’s so bubbly”, “I’m obsessed with how soft it leaves my skin!” – clearly I had to try this one for myself.  After using now for a few months, am convinced everyone has to have it on their vanity. One of my all time favorite masks that’s made it into my weekly routine.

Lashes to Die For

I am definitely a firm believer in big, bold lashes. And although many mascaras claim to give you that full look, it really starts with the nourishment of your real lashes. I’ve been through almost all of the “lash growth” serums – not intentionally but once I run out of one, I am eager to see of another one works better than the last. Currently lathering my lashes in this before I go to bed. It’s super gentile on my eyes which I can’t say for some of the other lash products that are currently on the market.

  • What foundation do you currently use? And what shade? I have very sensitive skin and I feel like I’ve tried them all, but with no luck.

    Thank you,
    Rachel

    • Oh you have got to try Circle Delete #1 by Jane Iredale! Here is the link http://bit.ly/1TCFLmc I’ve used this for years on my dark circles and also on blemishes. Not an all over product. For all over coverage, I rely on my tinted moisturizer listed above. But if you haven tried Jane products, they are a must! All mineral base that won’t break your skin out. Mine is super sensitive too and I just love it!

    Hi Jenny,

What a great start to the BEUTY EDIT!

I do have a concern that I haven’t been able to crack yet. At times my skin becomes quite dull and pimles like scars star to come out on my face and I find it hard to get rid off, unless of course I am at the beach and give my skin some salty goodness, but unfortunately that isn’t often. Is there a product or something else I should be doing? I use a scrub 2-3 times a week but I’m afraid that isn’t enough. Should I be using a face mask?

I hope to hear from you,
All the best for the new year, looking forward to every step you bring

    • Hi Love, I totally understand what you’re talking about! It happens to me too!It sounds like you need to use a vitamin complex which comes in the form of serums. They help to lighten dark spots in the form of sun damage and also acne scars. The Is Complex I listed here has really helped to transform my skin in that way. My derm also recommends only scrubbing once a week and with baking soda only! Another things I swear by even though it sounds a bit weird. Hope that helps! Let me know how it goes!

  • I really appreciate your honesty about products. I’ve become so overwhelmed with all of the options out there and not knowing what to try next when one I was set on fails. Love this post and can’t wait to try some of these!

    XO!

    HI Jenny!

Thanks for sharing all these wonderful products! Will definitely try out that La Mer eye cream. I must know who your derm is!

    xo’s from a new reader 🙂

    • Thank you so much for stopping by! Are you located in Los Angeles? My Dermatologist is Dr.Speaker @ Center for Dermatology Care. Dr. Kaufman too. My mom is an Esthetician there as well so you can visit the derm and also get a facial from Debbie, my mama 🙂

  • Hi Jenny!

Thank you for the beautiful post and wonderful recommendations! I was wondering if, by any chance, there is some eye concealer you could recommend? My skin is just naturally dark around my eyes and I have tried everything to conceal it but nothing has been particularly successful. Any suggestions would be most appreciated! 🙂 Wishing you the loveliest of days!

  • Hi Jenny! This post has been so helpful to me, I’ve been using the face wash since the week you posted this and it’s really improved my skin! I also had been using Intellishade and love it. The Revision DEJ face cream is a favorite of mine for day, but do you have a favorite face cream or night cream? Thank you!! xoxo
