If you’ve read my last few posts, you know I’ve been obsessing over the white jumpsuit and it all started with this one that I wore recently on my honeymoon in Hawaii! I have so much I want to share from this trip and I am just bursting at the seams to share all of the details with you! But first, why we waited!

Aren’t honeymoons supposed to happen right after the wedding? As most of you know, we married in France just short of a year ago (July 25th, 2015). Because we spent so much time in France leading up to the wedding and then traveling with Friends around Europe after the wedding, we saved our honeymoon (that special, one on one time) for something we would celebrate one year later on our anniversary. While part of me was sad that we didn’t decide to do it right after the wedding, I am so happy we waited because it allowed us to plan the most amazing trip to Hawaii that we ever could have asked for.

It all started on the Island of Kauai, in Princeville. Overlooking beautiful Hanalei Bay, We stayed at the legendary St. Regis Princeville Resort on the North Shore of Kauai. As we pulled in, we knew we were entering paradise. The entire property is covered in these massive yellow hibiscus flowers. But my favorite part was the view from our room, the suites at The St. Regis are absolutely incredible! The view from our bedroom overlooked the most incredible ocean view and also spectacular 360 mountain views. Needless to say, I couldn’t miss a sunrise and the sunsets were out of this world! I’d wake up with the sun each morning, sneak out of the room while Freddie slept and walk along the beach all by myself. It was truly magical. You can just feel the peaceful energy resonating throughout this venue – perfect for a destination wedding (which we saw a lot of) and of course, a honeymoon. I can’t even begin to tell you how special it felt to be in a place that allows you – almost forces you – to slow down. If LA is a 10 on the fast-paced life scale, Kauai is a 1. They’re truly polar opposites.

Naturally, I documented the entire thing, down to the very last detail, in case you’re planning a trip there soon! And I have to take this opportunity to thank my friends John D., Priscilla and Katie gave me some of the greatest recommendations a girl could ask for. All of these itineraries, activities and suggestions only enhance how truly breathtaking Kauai is. So here it is! What you MUST see, eat and do when you’re visiting this incredible island! Oh, and we also downloaded the “kauai revealed” app. Super helpful and a must if you’re traveling to this tropical oasis.

EAT

Kauai Grill – Located inside the St. Regis, it’s the most elegant location for any celebration. The food is made to match the breath taking views. Goes without saying the Hamachi Sashami was like butter. I highly recommend splurging on the tasting menu. One of the best we’ve ever experiences, from food to wine and desert.

Kintaro – Kintaro has always stood the test of time and might just be the best sushi place in town. Excellent food and equally impressive service. The bali hai bomb is a must order!

Bar Acuda – Great vibes and small, tapas-style plates in the city of Hanalei. Definitely worth the price!

Blue Dolphin – An island favorite for over 30 years, the restaurant offers fresh fish, steaks, and riverside seating.

Plantation Gardens – A seafood driven menu in a lush garden atmosphere situated in Poipu.

Eating House 1849 – Upscale Hawaiian grub in Koloa. You must try the rib eye tatami to start! It’s out of this world!

The Fresh Shave – For the most amazing shaved ice, try “The Whiskers” – sweet mint infused syrup with a hint of lime. It’s the BEST shaved ice on the island (in my humble opinion).

Princeville Shopping Center – This is the place to go if you’re looking for any assortment of Acai Bowls. Incredible flavors and toppings in all shapes and sizes!

The Tavern – This Roy Yamaguchi restaurant has great food, amazing services, and truly gorgeous views.

Hanalei Wake Up Cafe – This little hole in the wall breakfast place. They have homemade cinnamon rolls topped with pineapples and macadamia nuts that are a must try.

DRINK

Koa Kea – This epic pool bar is right on the beach and is perfect for enjoying some of Hawaii’s most beautiful sunsets. Located in Poipu, this bar is open to the public and crafts some incredibly tropical cocktails.

Beach House Restaurant – Incredible cocktails and sunset views paired with pacific rim style cuisine. Everything you imagine fine Hawaiian dining to me and more!

Tiki Iniki  – Take in the Hawaii Tiki Kitsch at this retro tiki bar. Awesome tropical drink selection and great throwback food. A must do if you’re visiting!

SHOP

The Wine Shop – great assortment of wines if you’re looking to purchase a couple local bottles or gifts. They also offer a variety of tastings and/ or wine flights!

Aloha Exchange – Without a doubt, the cutest surf shop on the island. This very well curated store front has a wide range of surf and skate goods as well as knick-knacks and souvenirs to bring home.

BEACHES

PK’s – Prince Kuhio’s Beach (more commonly known as PK’s) is definitely the best beach for surfing. You can find all the locals up early surfing and sunbathing here! When the water’s calm and clear, the snorkeling here is also out of this world.

Hideaways Beach – Although its not as hidden as it used to be, this beach is incredible for snorkeling. And you might just spot a couple of Monk Seals!

Anini beach – One of the safest and most protected beaches along the North Shore. This semi-private beach also features one of Hawaii’s longest reefs. A must visit while you’re in Princeville.

Tunnels Beach – Known for its incredible mountain scenery, you might recognize it from the classic movie musical “South Pacific”. This beach has something for everyone.

Queens Bath – This beach is incredible for a reason, a small hike takes you down to the beach. This beach features a giant lava pool that you’re able to swim in!! Definitely something you’ll want to do early in the morning to avoid a ton of tourists!

Hanalei Bay – A must do for a night of incredible sunsets. The crystalline, glassy water really makes the sunset colors pop!

* for all of these hiking adventures, I strongly recommend investing in a pair of water shoes, they saved our feet!

ADVENTURES

Waimea Canyon – Known as “the grand canyon of the pacific” – this canyon is on the south side of the island. You can see it from a lot of helicopter rides. Panoramic views of truly epic gorges. Not to be missed!

Hanalei River – Gorgeous river and super close to the St. Regis. Definitely consider paddle boarding or kayaking down this super smooth river. The mountain and water fall views are also a plus!

Kilauea Lighthouse – This town is so adorable and the view of the lighthouse is really a landmark. While you’re visiting, make sure to grab some grub at The Kilauea Bakery. They have  amazing pizza, perfect for lunch!

Waipa Farmers Market – Every Tuesday, from 2pm onwards, be sure to stop by this incredible outdoor market.  Just north of Hanalei, this market has an incredible selection of fresh produce. The pineapples are a MUST to take home!

Hike to Hanakapiai Falls – Approximately a 2 mile hike from Hanakapi’ai Beach and let me tell you, its worth it for the epicness that is a 300 ft waterfall. Definitely a must see at some point during your Hawaiian travels.

Na’pali Coast tour by Zodiac – You’ll see so many dolphins and turtles. Go with Blue Ocean Adventures (a lot of different companies do it but I’m told that Blue Ocean adventures is the best, our tour was sadly cancled due to weather from a different company so we didn’t get to experience it. Huge let down).
