Well Hello, March! Is it just me or does this year seem to be flying by even faster than last? Suddenly I find myself packing away my heavy coats, eyeing those mini skirts I’ve been dying to wear and I’m on the hunt for my favorite thing (no, not pizza): Spring dresses! After a frigid winter, I’m longing for breezy chiffon caftans, off the shoulder anything and slinky little dresses to wear on those warm, breezy Spring nights.

With just a few weeks until my trip to Italy, I’m already thinking about what I will be packing. Last year, Spring started out with our trip to Hawaii, so I can’t help but reflect on some of the dresses I packed. One of my favorite pieces from that vacation was this gorgeous Mestiza New York tassel dress from BHLDN that I lived in on our tropical trip. So when I started thinking about what to pack for Italy, I knew I’d be revisiting their luxurious collection.

If you’re new to Margo & Me or just visiting for the first time, my love for feminine frocks is painfully obvious. I find it enchanting that one single garment can tell a story simply through its silhouette, fabrication, and details. It’s probably why I’ve gravitated to Mestiza New York so strongly. Each dress is undeniably characterized with unexpected ornate textures, bold necklines and even a nod to vintage wanderlusts. Cue the grand bell sleeves of the Libby Ruffle Dress and the intricate embroidery of the paisley print Laura Bell dress I’m wearing today. The collection feels bold, elevated and elegant – the definition of designer. But what I love most is that it comes in at a contemporary price point and the versatility of the pieces are endless.

The dress I’m wearing today for example, yes I know, she was intended for Italy and will be worn when I arrive – elegantly paired with a gold sandal and oversized sunnies.  However what matters most about the pieces we invest in is versatility. Paired with a blazer, the dress goes from martinis in Mykonos to meeting hopping in Melrose place. I can even envision putting a turtleneck under it, paired with sheer black tights for a cooler afternoon out in New York.

If co-founders Alessandra Perez-Rubio and Louisa Rechter keep going in the direction they are headed, they have the makings of Marchesa written all over them!

This dress and more of Mestiza New York’s Spring collection has just arrived on NeimanMarcus.com and at select Neiman Marcus stores.  To shop additional pieces from the collection, visit www.mestizanewyork.com
